Bilka reaches a quarter of Romanian metal roof systems market
Local metal covers manufacturer Bilka ended 2014 with a turnover of over RON 134 million (some EUR 30 million), up 29% year-on-year. It also managed to up its maker share to a quarter of the local market for metal roof tiles.
Metal tiles accounted for over half of the company’s total sales, followed by accessories, corrugated sheet iron and insulation panels – with a share of 34%. Pluvial systems represented 15% of the total.
“We consider 2014 the best year in the history of Bilka. After drawing a line at the end of the year, we had: financial performance well above the average on this market and in line with the objectives set at the beginning of the year - EUR 3 million investments, new halls that cover 27,000 sqm, two new production lines and around 26,000 houses covered,” said Horatiu Tepes, Bilka owner.
According to company estimations, Bilka reached 24% of the local market of metal roof tile in 2014, up from 21% in 2013.
This year, the company plans to continue the EUR 5 million investment plan started in 2014, which is primarily aimed at increasing and diversifying production.
Bilka wants to increase the production area in the coming years. It plans to acquire a 15,000 sqm piece of land located near its factory in Brasov, central Romania. On a medium-term, the company’s plans also include the purchase of a local competitor. The Bilka factory currently covers 45,000 sqm.
