11 February 2014

The Bucharest Municipality has started revamping the Triumphal Arch (Arcul de Triumf) in Romania’s capital. Rehabilitation works are to be completed by March 2015 and the costs amount to some RON 30 million (around EUR 7 million), of which RON 23 million (over EUR 5 million) represents European funding.

“The order to begin works was issued in January 2014. Work is underway to organize the construction site, this is the first phase,” reads a City Hall answer for local daily Hotnews.ro.

The association Holding Grup SA and UTI Grup SA have won the bid for the project.

The Triumphal Arch in Bucharest, 27 meters high and located at the crossroad between Kiseleff and Constantin Prezan, Alexandru Averescu and Alexandru Constantinescu boulevards, was built in 1922 and renovated in 1936. The monument commemorates Romania’s victory in the First World War.
