Bucharest City Hall to transform Romexpo pavilion into polyvalent hall

24 November 2016

The Bucharest City Hall, in partnership with Romania’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the District 1 City Hall, wants to invest EUR 30 million in arranging the main pavilion of the Romexpo exhibition space as a polyvalent hall.

This would be the first joint project of the Bucharest City Hall, Bucharest’s District 1 authorities and Romania’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The new hall will have around 15,000 seats, including locker rooms, conference halls, and lodges.

Also, the whole Romexpo exhibition complex will be set up as a touristic objective, said Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea. In maximum one year, the pavilion could be transformed into a polyvalent hall, she added.

“We’ve lost a lot of events (...) because we didn’t have a proper space,” Firea said.

The project should be finalized in a year and a half, according to the Bucharest mayor. The new polyvalent hall may be named after famous Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci.
