Bucharest public transport company to buy four double-deckers for City Tour line

Bucharest public transport company RATB wants to buy four double-decker buses for its City Tour line via an auction to be organized in the second half of October.

The contract’s value is estimated at RON 3.91 million (some EUR 880,000), without VAT, reports local Profit.ro.

The four double-decker buses RATB currently uses for the touristic line have been rented from Constanta public transport company RATC for six months, based on a contract awarded at the end of April. RATC was the only bidder in RATB’s auction, the value of the contract amounting to RON 645,000 (EUR 145,000).

The Bucharest City Tour buses take tourists around Bucharest between mid-May and mid-October. Each bus has a capacity of 77 seats, and follows the route Free Press Square – the Village Museum – the Arch of Triumph – Victoriei Square – Calea Victoriei – People’s Palace – Unirii Square – Universitate Square – Romana Square – Victoriei Square – Charles de Gaulle Square – Kiseleff street – Free Press Square.

This year, the tariffs remained unchanged: RON 25 (EUR 5.6) per card for adults and RON 10 (EUR 2.25) per card for children aged between 7 and 14. Children under 7 accompanied by adults get a free ride. All cards are valid for 24 hours from the first validation and can be purchased from the bus.
