Bucharest ranks 6th in the world for traffic congestion
Bucharest ranks sixth in the world for the degree of traffic congestion, being the only EU city that made it to the top 10, according to the GPS solutions provider TomTom.
The only European cities where the traffic congestion is worse than in Romania’s capital are Istanbul and Moscow.
The degree of traffic congestion is assessed based on the additional time spent to reach the destination. A driver in Bucharest spends 43% more time in traffic than he normally should. He needs 85 minutes for a 60-minute road.
In the morning, drivers in Romania’s capital spend 83% more in traffic than they should have. The index grows to 87% in the evening.
Mexico City has the busiest traffic in the world.
