The Continental electronic components factory, which is based in Timisoara, has expanded its production area and warehouse with 5,000 sqm and inaugurated a new office building of over 2,200 sqm, according to a press release of the company.

The production area has thus been increased by 30%.

The investment in expanding the production area and the construction of new office building amounted to over EUR 12 million. This investment was necessary as the company plans to increase the production capacity in the next years.

“We started with 200 employees in 2006 and we’ve reached over 1,300,” said Ralf Luchs, director of the Continental factory in Timisoara.

The German group invested EUR 1.13 billion in its activities in Romania since 1999 until 2015. All the five Continental divisions are present in Romania.

The group owns seven production plants and four research and development centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov, and Iasi. It had about 16,500 employees at the end of 2015. The team grew by over 1,000 new members in 2016.
