Electrica, OMV Petrom open fast charging station for electric cars
Energy distributor Electrica and oil and gas producer OMV Petrom inaugurated yesterday the first charging station for electric cars in an OMV fuel station located in Bucharest.
This is part of a pilot project. The two companies plan to install quick charging points for electric cars in four other OMV gas stations in Bucharest, and at the headquarters of OMV Petrom (Petrom City) and Electrica.
An electric car can charge 80% of its battery in 20 minutes at these stations, compared to a charging period of 7-8 hours at a non-specialized power outlet. According to the representatives of the two companies, only the special plug had a cost of EUR 30,000.
People who wash their car at the gas station can charge their electric cars free of charge. Those who only wish to charge the car will pay RON 1 per kWh. For an electric car (not a hybrid one), the charging cost amounts between RON 22 (EUR 4.9) - for 22 kWh - and RON 36 (EUR 8), said Ramiro Angelescu, Electrica sales director.
The electric car can travel on average 150 kilometers with RON 22 worth of electricity, Angelescu added.
