European Film Festival kicks off beginning of May in five Romanian cities

This year’s edition of the European Film Festival, an event dedicated to promoting the diversity of European cinema, takes place between May 4 and May 28 in five cities in Romania.

The festival will run in Bucharest, between May 4 and May 11, in Iasi between May 12 and May 14, in Targu Mures between May 19 and May 21, in Timisoara between May 26 and May 28, and in Gura Humorului between May 19 and May 21. This is the first time the festival takes place in Gura Humorului, a town in Suceava county, in north-eastern Romania.

The festival has a new artistic director this year, film consultant Alex Trăilă. He was previously involved in organizing film festival such as the Sarajevo Film Festival or the Transylvania International Film Festival TIFF. He is also a founding member of the think-tank #FEEDback (Film Eastern European Dialogue), dedicated to cultural policies in the cinema area.
