Famous Romanian hacker Guccifer, who has hacked the email accounts of some famous American politicians, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell and members of the Bush family, will be extradited to the US to stand trial.

Romania’s High Court of Cassation and Justice ruled in favor of the American authorities’ request for the hacker’s extradition. Lazar Marcel Lehel, better known as Guccifer, will stay in the US for up to 18 months for the trial, according to Mediafax.

The High Court overruled a decision of the Timisoara Court of Appeal, which rejected the US authorities’ extradition request in February.

In mid-2014, the Bucharest Court in Romania sentenced Lazar Marcel Lehel to seven years in prison for hacking the email accounts of former Romanian Intelligence Service director George Maior, MEP Corina Cretu, and other local celebrities. He is currently serving this sentence at the Arad Prison.

Guccifer also stands trial in the US for online fraud. He has been accused of illegally accessing the email accounts of several American personalities, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell, members of the Bush family, and Sidney Blumenthal, a friend of the Clinton family.
