GE plans to hire another 200 engineers in Romania
American group General Electric (GE) has reached 900 employees in Romania. Some 350 of them joined the company following the takeover of the industrial group Alstom by GE, a global transaction worth USD 9.5 billion.
The group plans to hire another 200 people by next year and is looking for engineers and software specialists, according to Cristian Colteanu, GE CEO for Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova, reports local Economica.net.
He added that the company’s need for engineers comes from its transformation into a digital company.
“At GE, we never have enough engineers, and Romanian engineers are very good,” Colteanu said.
GE now has three production units in Romania, which employ 600 people and have yearly exports of some USD 100 million. The group owns the oil equipment factory Lufkin Ploiesti, an aircraft engine components producer in Bucharest, and a power equipment producer that it took from Alstom.
