German ambassador to Romania retires at the end of this year

Werner Hans Lauk, Germany’s ambassador to Romania, will retire from diplomacy and leave Romania at the end of December. He made the announcement during a conference organized by the German Embassy and Deutsche Welle on Wednesday.

“After three and a half years in your beautiful country and some 40 years in the German foreign affairs service, I will retire at the end of this year. I will leave Romania on December 30,” Lauk said, according to local News.ro.

Werner Hans Lauk, who turns 66 in December, has been working in diplomacy since 1976. He has held various positions in German embassies in Caracas, Prague, Riyadh, Beijing, Kabul, and Hong Kong, before coming to Romania in July 2013.
