Romania’s best footballer of all times gets Golden Foot Legends award at Monte Carlo

Gheorghe Hagi, who is considered the greatest Romanian footballer of all times, will get the Golden Foot Legends award from Prince Albert de Monaco in a gala event that will take place on September 21 at Monte Carlo.

The Golden Foot Legends award is equivalent to the Hall of Fame for football. During the ceremony, Gheorghe Hagi will leave his footprints on the "The Champions Promenade".

Among the famous footballers who have received the legends award in the past are Pele, Maradona, Eusebio, Alfredo Di Stefano, George Best, Eric Cantona, and Zinedine Zidane.

The Golden Foot trophy is awarded each year to a footballer over 28 that’s still playing. Italy’s Roberto Baggio was the first to receive the award in 2003. Czech Pavel Nedved, Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko, Brazilians Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos, Italians Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti, Welshman Ryan Giggs, Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Ivorian Didier Drogba have received this award so far.
