Heat alert for half of Romania, Bucharest included
The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) issued a three-day heat warning for 21 counties in southern and southeastern Romania, valid between June 22 and June 24.
The alert targets the capital Bucharest as well as Mehedinti, Gorj, Dolj, Valcea, Olt, Teleorman, Arges, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Prahova, Ilfov, Buzau, Ialomita, Calarasi, Constanta, Tulcea, Braila, Vrancea, Galati, Vaslui, and Bacau counties.
A heat wave will hit these areas, with the temperatures expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius and even 36-37 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The nights will be tropical, with minimum temperatures that will not go below 20 degrees Celsius, according to ANM.
The Romanians will feel a great heat discomfort in this period, the temperature-humidity index being expected to go over the critical threshold of 80 units.
Storms are expected in the mountain areas, especially during the afternoons.
