High competition for police officer jobs in Romania
The Romanian Police is hiring police officers and the number of those interested in this job is way higher than the number of positions that need to be filled.
Hundreds of people queued on Thursday at the Bucharest Police headquarters to submit their CVs as the institution has opened 200 policeman positions. More than 1,400 people applied for the job in just a few hours and a few hundred more were waiting in line to register their applications, according to local Mediafax.
The requirements for the job are not hard to fulfill: anyone who has finished high school, passed the Baccalaureate exam, and has a valid driver license can join the Police, according to Bogdan Ghebaur, the Bucharest Police’s spokesman.
Height is also an eliminatory constraint. Male candidates must be at least 1.65 meters tall and the minimum height for women is 1.6 meters.
The candidates will have to take a written exam on May 14 and those who pass it and get hired will have to stay on this job for at least three years.
The Romanian Police is looking to hire 1,900 public order officers all over the country. The application period started on April 1 and ends on April 8.
