How many Romanians have driver licenses?
About 7.14 million people had valid driver licenses registered in Romania at the end of December 2015, according to data from the Directorate for Driver Licenses and Vehicle Registrations – DRPCIV. More than two-thirds of the total holders, namely 4.84 million, were men.
Most of the driver licenses were issued in Bucharest (over 921,000), followed by Cluj county (over 284,000), Timis (281,307), Constanta (276,249), Prahova (almost 273,000), Arges (238,771), Dolj (228,254), and Brasov (225,477), reports local Agerpres.
On the other hand, the fewest driver licenses were registered in Giurgiu, Ialomita, and Covasna counties.
By age groups, 3,32 million driver licenses belonged to people aged between 31 and 50, 1.78 million were held by people aged between 51 and 70, and 1.42 million belong to people aged between 21 and 30. More than 423,300 people aged over 71 had valid licenses at the end of December 2015.
According to DRPCIV, Romania’s auto park totaled some 6.6 million units at the end of 2015, up by 5.3% year-on-year. Of all vehicles registered at the end of last year, about 5.15 million units were classified as passenger cars, up by 5% compared to 2014.
Some 1.19 million vehicles were registered in Bucharest at the end of 2015, more than 956,600 of them being passenger cars.
