IKEA buys 4% of all its products from Romanian suppliers
About 4% of the furniture products and decorations IKEA sells worldwide are produced in Romania, according to Stefan Vanoverbeke, IKEA retail manager for South-Eastern Europe, quoted by local Ziarul Financiar.
The company plans to double the volume of products purchased from Romania in the next five years. IKEA will raise the number of suppliers to reach this target, Vanoverbeke added.
The IKEA suppliers have reached 14,000 employees whereas the value of the products delivered annually to the group has totaled EUR 400 million.
Some of IKEA’s largest suppliers include the furniture producers Aramis Invest, Taparo, Sortilemn, and porcelain producer Apulum.
