Inmates help clean up Bucharest parks
A group of 50 inmates from Rahova prison are participating in cleaning activities organized in several Bucharest parks, according to a statement from the National Administration of Penitentiaries.
“These actions are the result of the collaboration with Bucharest’s City Hall, and represents a practical way of involving prisoners in activities that are beneficial to the community, to the prison, and to individuals,” reads the statement.
Under the partnership between the two institutions, prisoners also participated in snow removal activities last winter.
According to Bucharest City Hall representatives, cleaning activities will be organized in Cismigiu Park on April 3-4, Tineretului Park from April 5 to April 7, and Herastrau Park between April 10 and April 13, reports local News.ro.
“Spring cleaning continues in Bucharest parks! After the cleaning, planting and repairing activities were completed in Carol, Floreasca and Circului parks, we now continue with Cismigiu, Tineretului, and Herastrau parks. 50 inmates are involved in these actions, following a partnership with the Ministry of Justice,” said Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea.
