Greek toy retailer Jumbo doubles turnover in Romania

Greek toy retailer Jumbo posted a turnover of EUR 48 million in Romania in the 2015/2016 fiscal year, double compared to the previous year.

Its net profit reached EUR 14 million during this period, almost triple compared to the previous year.

The Greek group currently owns seven stores in Romania, and wants to open another two units next year.

Jumbo opened its first store in the local market in October 2013 in Timisoara. It then inaugurated stores in Bucharest, Oradea, Arad, Ploiesti, and Pitesti. All the stores have surfaces between 11,000 sqm and 12,000 sqm each.

According to the group’s financial report, Romania generated 7.5% of the total turnover in the 2015/2016 fiscal year, compared to 4.7% in the previous year.
