Mega Mall, one of the biggest shopping centers in Bucharest, opens today (May 14) at 8:00 AM. This is the biggest mall inauguration in Romania's capital in the last five years.

The EUR 165 million mall developed by South-African investment fund NEPI and Austrian group Real4You has a total leasable area of 72,000 sqm and a total built surface of 230,000 sqm.

The mall was initially supposed to open on April 23, but the developers postponed the inauguration for May 14, as the work was not ready. Yesterday, on May 13, the mall wasn’t yet finished, as hundreds of people were still working on the finishing touches in the mall’s lobbies, in the stores, as well as on the outside, according to photos posted by various “insiders” on Facebook.

However, finished or not, Mega Mall does open today. Titan the Robot, the already famous entertainer who shared the stage with celebrities such as Rihanna, Will.i.am and Hugh Jackman, will be the main attraction of the opening festivities. Retailers also greet their first visitors with various promotional campaigns and prizes.

Mega Mall is located near Bucharest's National Arena, at the intersection of Pierre de Coubertin Boulevard and Pantelimon Street.
