19 October 2016

A modern holiday estate located in Magura village, Buzau county, Eastern Romania, is the most expensive property on sale at the autumn edition of the tIMOn real estate fair in Bucharest, which takes place this week.

The mansion, designed by famous American architect Jim Ruscitto, is made of pine logs, stone from the French Alps, and slate from Brazil and Norway. The main house has over 1,200 sqm and includes a large living room with a massive fireplace and a stunning view of a forested valley, and a 22-meter long heated pool. It has 5 bedrooms and family apartments and can accommodate 10 adults and 4 to 6 children.

The property also includes a farm, two lakes, a vegetable garden, a greenhouse, and a strawberry and raspberry plantation. The whole property spans over 10 hectares of land.

The estate, which is called Nature Getaway, but is also known as Carpathian Estate, comes with a price tag of EUR 2.5 million. Local real estate agency Imoteca promotes it.

The construction of Carpathian Estate started in 2008 and took 3 years to complete, according to information on the property’s website. The owner is a French investor who used to be a shareholder in a big pharmaceutical company in Romania, who built the estate as a getaway for him and his family.

Rumor has it that one day he was passing with his helicopter over the picturesque Buzau hills and valleys and he saw that place, fell in love with it, and decided to buy it and build this holiday estate there.

In recent years, Carpathian Estate has also been available for rent and listed on booking websites for tourists interested in spending some quiet time in nature. The whole house can be rented for prices starting at EUR 1,800 per weekend. The estate can also be rented for photo shootings and special events, such as weddings.

The estate is managed by a local firm called Exclusive Estate & Events, owned by an offshore firm registered in Cyprus. The firm's administrator is French investor Ludovic Robert, one of the founders of the A&D Pharma group, which owns the Sensiblu drug store chain in Romania, according to data from the Trade Registry's Office (ONRC) quoted by local Economica.net.

Ludovic Robert exited the A&D Pharma business in 2012 and invested in another business in the private healthcare sector, namely the Amethyst radiotherapy network.
