Orange Romania, the country’s biggest mobile carrier, recorded revenues of EUR 476 million in the first six months of 2016, 4.9% higher compared to the same period of last year.

The evolution was supported by the increase in subscriptions and the boom in mobile internet consumption.

In the second quarter of the year, Orange Romania saw revenues of EUR 240.5 million, up 3.3% year-on-year. The lower growth rate compared to the first quarter (+6.5%) was due to roaming price reductions in Europe.

Orange had 9.85 million clients at the end of June, 1.6 million of whom used 4G services, 2.8 times more than in June 2015. The 4G network covers 74% of the total population and 96.5% of the urban population.

The 4G traffic in Orange’s network went up 4 times compared to the first half of 2015 as the number of 4G terminals that access the network has doubled.
