Free Wi-Fi internet in trains from Bucharest to the seaside this summer
Orange Romania, the country’s biggest mobile carrier, will provide free Wi-Fi internet in the CFR trains going from Bucharest to the Black Sea port of Constanta during the summer holiday season.
The service will be available in train wagons marked “Orange Wi-Fi Zone” until September 15. The access to the Wi-Fi network is free and not conditioned by the users’ mobile services provider. The data traffic is monitored and access to some sites may be restricted.
The internet connection in CFR trains will be provided through Orange Business Wi-Fi solution, which allows high-speed internet access during the whole trip for hundreds of devices connected simultaneously, according to Orange.
The company implemented a similar project providing Wi-Fi internet access to passengers using the public transport company in Cluj-Napoca, in 2015. The service has been expanded to other cities, such as Timisoara and Caransebes.
In 2015, Orange also developed a Wi-Fi internet connection solution for a special Dacia Duster edition, called Dacia Duster Connected by Orange. The car provided Wi-Fi internet access for up to 10 connected devices at the same time.
