Romania gives up plan to adopt euro by 2019
Romania has officially given up the idea to adopt the euro by 2019, according to a Government document.
The executive will establish a new date that will be included in the 2017 report, reports local Profit.ro.
The Government needs to send the European Commission annually a convergence program for Romania that also indicates such a deadline. In the last year’s program, the Government kept the date 2019 for adopting the euro. This year, however, the document doesn’t include this deadline, according to sources.
Still, the Government maintains the commitment to adopt the euro currency.
