Romanian airline Tarom suspends flights on several routes to cut costs
Romanian airline Tarom will suspend the direct flights to Dubai, Nice, Geneva, and Amman this winter, to cut costs, reports local Digi24.
The company has decided to suspend the four flights because the number of passengers is too low on these routes during winter. Moreover, Tarom recently took two airplanes out of use as they were older than 25 years. Its fleet in now made of 21 aircraft.
The airline will resume the four flights next summer.
Tarom has faced serious turbulence in recent weeks as the company registered big delays and even canceled some flights to due technical problems.
Transport Minister Sorin Buse said that the company would go through a serious restructuring process. The name of the strategic consultant that will be in charge of this process is to be announced soon.
The airline recorded gross losses of EUR 11.2 million in the first quarter of this year.
