Low cost airline Blue Air connects Romania's Cluj-Napoca to four new cities in Europe
Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air will operate four new routes from Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca, starting the spring of 2017.
The four routes, namely Hamburg, Larnaca, London-Luton, and Nice, are part of the airline’s 2017 summer schedule.
The flights to London will be operated four times a week starting March 26, and those to Larnaca three times a week from April 9, according to a statement from the airport. Blue Air will also operate flights to Nice starting April 10, and to Hamburg from June 3.
Tickets are already available on the airline’s website for prices that start from EUR 29.95.
“The operational base at the Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj will include seven international routes and four domestic routes, becoming one of the most important Blue Air bases,” said Gheorghe Racaru, Blue Air general manager.
The airline started operating flights from the Cluj-Napoca airport on June 3, 2016, with three routes to Bucharest, Liverpool, and Dublin. The company will introduce a Cluj-Napoca – Timisoara – Iasi flight on October 1 this year, a Cluj-Napoca – Birmingham route on December 16, and a Cluj-Napoca – Constanta flight on April 27, 2017.
Blue Air, which started its activity 11 years ago, currently operates 70 routes to Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, UK, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, and Spain. It currently has five operational bases in Iasi, Bucharest, Bacau, Larnaca, and Turin, but plans to open two more bases in the coming months: one in Cluj-Napoca on October 30, and one in Constanta on April 27, 2017.
