Romanian company to start selling locally-made corn-puff snacks in NY, Detroit, Chicago
A Romanian producer of corn-puff snacks – in Romanian called Pufuleti – will start selling the local products in the US, and hopes for a 30 percent increase in its sales after the start of exports to the American market.
Phoenix Y, which produces the Gusto corn-puff snacks, hopes to exceed EUR 23 million in sales this year, and counts more on exports for growth, than on the local market, which has been stagnating.
The Gusto corn-puff snacks will be sold in New York, Detroit, Chicago and Atlanta, according to Eliodor Apostolescu, general manager of Phoenix Y, quoted by Mediafax newswire. The company already exports its products to 20 European countries, including UK, Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Spain, among others. Around 30 percent of its production is shipped abroad.
Phoenix runs a factory in Baicoi, in Romania's Prahova county, where it produces around 1 million bags of corn-puff chips a day. The company has been active for the last 20 years in Romania.
