Romanian, European, and US companies may invest in Moldova

09 November 2016

There are Romanian, European, and American companies that negotiate the purchase of energy companies in the Republic of Moldova and plan to make investments in hydrocarbon exploration, but this depends on the result of the elections in Chisinau, said yesterday Razvan Nicolescu, former Romanian energy minister, currently a consultant with Deloitte.

The project for extending the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau will also start soon, and will be funded with EU money, he added, reports local Agerpres.

"I expect things to develop positively, I expect some of these investments to be made, to create jobs in Moldova, with only one condition, which is related to what will happen in a few days," said Deloitte representative.

He explained that the Moldovan citizens also need to choose leaders who want these investments to take place and who want to get closer to the Western world.
