Romanian IT group Bitdefender ups turnover by half in 2015

Romanian IT group Bitdefender posted a turnover of EUR 85.7 million last year, up 54% over 2014, according to the company. The figure only reflects the business of the group’s subsidiary registered in Romania, which produces IT solutions.

The firm’s exports reached EUR 83.7 million, namely 97.7% of its turnover. In 2014, exports accounted for 95% of the turnover.

The firm was founded by Romanian entrepreneurs Mariuca and Florin Talpes, and is now fully owned by Dutch-registered Bitdefender Holding BV. Talpes said that Bitdefender was currently interested in investing in Romanian startups.

“We have cash and we are looking after companies,” he added, reports local Wall-street.ro.

In 2015, the company allocated a USD 16 million budget for its online promotion. The company has been putting a lot of effort into digital marketing, as it has been trying to increase its market share in countries such as USA, Germany and Brazil.
