Romanian investor sells Yves Rocher franchise to the French group

12 January 2017

The French cosmetics group Yves Rocher will directly operate its network of shops in Romania after having been present on the market through a franchise system.

Romanian entrepreneur Alexandru Rabanca, 37, who brought the brand in Romania two decades ago, sold his business to the French group. The transaction was concluded in December last year, and is estimated at a few million euros, according to Ziarul Financiar.

Other companies such as Sephora, Zara, and Mango applied the same model - opening businesses on the local market via franchises and buying them.

Yves Rocher operates via two companies in Romania, Cosmetiques de France, which controls the network of stores, and Yves Rocher Romania, which operates mail and internet sales. Cosmetiques de France had a turnover of RON 23.5 million (EUR 5.2 million) last year whereas Yves Rocher Romania recorded a turnover of RON 58 million (EUR 12.9 million).
