Romanian thriller to be screened at film festivals in 11 countries
Dogs/Caini, the debut feature film of Romanian director Bogdan Mirica, has been selected for film festivals in Finland, Norway, Canada, Poland, Israel, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, the U.S., and Italy.
The Romanian film, which recently won the Special Jury Mention at the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival, will be screened in Finland’s capital this September, at the Helsinki International Film Festival, reports local News.ro. The event will take place between September 15 and September 25, and Dogs’ screenings will take place on September 19, 21, and 24, as part of the Men or Animals? section.
In parallel, the Romanian thriller will also be screened at Norway’s Bergen International Film Festival, which will take place between September 20 and September 28. The film was included in the festival’s Cinema Extraordinaire section.
In October, Dogs will reach the public on three continents, from Israel to Canada, while in November will be screened in six other countries.
Bogdan Mirica’s film was the bigger winner of this year’s Transylvania International Film Festival in Romania. In May, the movie also won the FIPRESCI award of the international film critics in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section.
Dogs will arrive in Romanian cinemas on September 23.
