The nearly 4 million Romanians working abroad sent USD 3.2 billion in the country last year, compared to USD 3.43 billion in 2014, according to World Bank data presented by representatives of MoneyGram.

The highest amount was sent from Italy, namely USD 937 million, followed by Spain, with USD 740 million, and Germany, with USD 422 million, reports local Profit.ro. About USD 208 million were sent from Hungary, USD 186 million from the United States of America, and USD 99 million from Israel.

About 1.08 million Romanian were working in Italy in 2014, while 728,800 Romanians were working in Spain, 355,300 people in Germany, 162,600 in the United States, and 130,000 in the UK.

In total, about 2.37 million were officially working abroad in 2014, compared to 1.44 million in 2007, according to MoneyGram.
