Romania’s Electric Castle festival adds Franz Ferdinand and UNKLE to its 2017 lineup
The organizers of Romania’s Electric Castle music festival have announced new names for this year’s lineup, including famous indie-rock band Franz Ferdinand and well-known band UNKLE.
Other artists announced on Tuesday are Zedd, Paul Van Dyk, Dub Pistols, Dimension, Mind Against, Timo Maas, Dillinja, and Cassy. They have joined the impressive lineup that already includes House of Pain, deadmau5, Trentemoller, Moderat, Alt-J, Nero, Noisia, and DJ Sneak, among many others.
Franz Ferdinand are one of the best-known indie-rock bands in the world. Grammy nominees and winners of several Brit Awards, the band members have been playing the innovative music for 15 years. The band was formed in 2002. The concert in Romania will be the band’s first gig after a break of three years.
UNKLE is a collective music project built around James Lavelle. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists such as Nick Cave, Moby, Robert del Naja of Massive Attack, or Keith Flint from The Prodigy.
The general access passes for Electric Castle currently cost RON 399 (EUR 87) and are on sale on the festival’s website.
Electric Castle is one of the largest music festivals in Romania. This year’s edition will take place between July 12 and July 16 at the Banffy Castle in Bontida, Cluj county. The organizers expect more than 130,000 spectators this year.
In 2016, the festival brought more than 120,000 people to the Banffy Castle in Cluj county. Over 200 artists and bands from Romania and abroad performed on the festival’s eight stages.
