Romania’s King Michael, more fragile by the week
Prince Radu has recently spoken about King Michael's health condition, saying that, although his organism is getting more fragile by the week, there is no reason for immediate concern, according to local News.ro.
“Things are how anyone can imagine. Neither the King nor the Queen can go for the better. The good thing is that there is no reason for immediate concern, meaning that his organism is working, but it gets more fragile with every week and month that passes, and is in more need of being helped,” Prince Radu said on Monday, July 4, after an event organized for the Romanian Red Cross Day. Prince Radu is married to Princess Margareta, King Michael's eldest daughter.
He also said that King Michael reads the letters he receives, and even requests to answer some of them. He also reads the news and spoke on the phone with Prince Radu on his birthday, celebrated on June 7.
In early March this year, King Michael passed to his daughter, Princess Margareta, the responsibility to represent Romania’s Royal House after he was diagnosed with cancer. He was operated at a clinic in Lausanne and was released from the hospital on March 15.
The Royal House that King Michael represents currently has only a symbolical status as Romania is a republic ran by the President and Parliament. Monarchy in Romania was abolished in 1947 by the communist regime and King Michael has lived most of his life abroad.
