Romania’s King Michael leaves hospital, continues treatment at his residence in Switzerland

Romania’s King Michael was released from the hospital in Lausanne, where he has been treated in the last 17 days, after being operated for cancer.

The former sovereign’s condition is stable and he will continue the treatment at his private residence in Switzerland, where he will be monitored by the clinic’s doctors and the Royal Family’s physicians.

“Considering the seriousness of the diagnosis, the treatment and the recovery process will be lengthy and will require a careful monitoring,” the Royal Family announced in a press release.

King Michael, who is 94, was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and leukemia. He was operated in a clinic in Lausanne.

Due to his health condition, King Michael retired from public life and passed all his duties to the Crown Custodian, Princess Margareta, his elder daughter.
