State-owned nuclear power producer Nuclearelectrica posted a net profit of EUR 14.3 million in the first nine months of the year, down 51% compared to the same period in 2015.

The net profit in the third quarter of the year amounted to EUR 22.6 million, compared to EUR 28.4 million in the third quarter of 2015.

In the first six months of the year, the company had losses of EUR 8.4 million.

The revenues from the sale of electricity decreased by 5% to RON 1.1 billion (EUR 244 million) between January and September. The drop was mainly due to the lower quantity of energy sold, namely a 4% decrease, which was connected to a planned stop of one of the production units.

The state has a stake of 82.5% in Nuclearelectrica.
