Romania’s President decorates French counterpart Francois Hollande
Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis decorated French President Francois Hollande with the Order of the Star of Romania in the Grand Cross with Collar rank, the highest decoration that can be granted by the Romanian state in time of peace.
The French President was awarded the decoration “as a sign of high appreciation for his contribution to developing friendly relations and cooperation between Romania and France, for understanding and showing interest in Romanian history and culture.”
The decoration decree was published in the Official Gazette on Monday, September 12.
French President Francois Hollande is the sixth person that receives this decoration from the Romanian President. Previously, Klaus Iohannis decorated Polish President Andrzej Duda on July 5, and German President Joachim Gauck on June 21.
Francois Hollande is in Romania on Tuesday, September 13.
