Ryanair carries 680,000 Romanians in the first half
Low-cost airline Ryanair increased by 127% the number of its passengers in Romania in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
It transported 680,000 people between January and June this year, compared to 300,000 passengers during these months in 2015, reports local Profit.ro.
The company currently operates nine routes from and to Bucharest. In September the company will launch new routes to Timisoara and Berlin.
In August the airline announced a new flight between Bucharest and Palermo starting end of March next year.
Ryanair competes on the low-cost segment with companies such as Blue Air and Wizz Air. Blue Air transported 1.42 million passengers in the first six months of the year, up 82% year-on-year. The growth was due to the introduction of 25 new routes.
