SOCAR: Romania remains a priority for Azeri investments

21 November 2016

Romania and Azerbaijan have very good political relations at the highest level, and Romania is the first country where SOCAR made investments in Europe, said Suleyman Gasimov, vice-president of the Azeri state-owned oil company SOCAR.

“Romania will remain a priority country for Azeri investments,” he added, reports local Agerpres.

He said that the company entered Romania, analyzed the market and saw the opening of the Romanian state for Azeri investments.

SOCAR inaugurated on Friday a new fuel station near Bucharest. Their network in Romania comprises 35 fuel stations.

In 2011, when the Azeri company started its expansion on the local market, company representatives said that SOCAR would reach 300 fuel stations in three years, a number similar to the one operated by Lukoil for example. SOCAR has invested some EUR 64 million in Romania, where it has created about 500 jobs.
