Thieves steal 100-kg safe from City Hall in eastern Romania
Some unidentified persons broke into the City Hall of Popricani commune in Iasi county, eastern Romania, and manage to steal a 100-kg safe which contained RON 3,000 (EUR 665).
The thieves also took RON 8,000 (EUR 1,800) from a drawer, the money representing allowances for people with disabilities, reports local Mediafax. The Police were notified about the robbery on Monday morning.
“There were surveillance cameras, the images have already been taken and are being processed at this moment. We will continue the investigation to identify the thieves and arrest them,” said Iasi County Police spokesperson Anca Vijiac.
According to representatives of Popricani City Hall, the alarm didn’t go off when the thieves broke in because the employees forgot to activate it on Friday when they left the building.
The authorities have opened a criminal investigation for theft in this case.
