Top 20 most visited websites in Romania
Google.ro, the Romanian version of the famous search engine, Facebook.com and Youtube.com are the top three most popular websites in Romania, according to Alexa traffic ranking. Google.com and Yahoo.com come next in the ranking.
The highest ranked Romanian website is that of online retailer eMAG.ro, which is also the largest online store in Romania by sales. eMAG.ro is the sixth most visited site in Romania. It is followed by OLX.ro, which is also an online commerce site, but it provides consumer-to-consumer services (like eBay). Both eMAG.ro and OLX.ro are controlled by South-African investment fund Naspers.
Wikipedia.org, the free online encyclopaedia, and Amazon.com, one of the largest online retailers in the world, come next. The top 10 is completed by tocmai.ro, which is also a classifieds website. The top news website is Gandul.info (on 13), which is an online newspaper owned by Mediafax Group, followed by Realitatea.net (on 14).
Alexa calculates the traffic rank of all websites in the world using a combination of average daily visitors and page views over the past month, which in this case was November.
