Turnover of Romania's IT sector exceeds EUR 3 billion

The turnover in Romania’s software and IT services sector rose by 21% last year compared to the previous year reaching EUR 3.08 billion.

The revenues could go up by 17% this year, according to the “Software and IT Services in Romania” study launched by the Software and Services Industry Employers Association ANIS. The sector could record an annual increase of 15% in the next five years.

The market is still dominated by exports, which account for two-thirds (67%) of the sector’s turnover. The exports of software and IT services reached EUR 2.09 billion last year, up by over 31% compared to 2014.

This year, the exports are expected to reach EUR 2.5 billion, more than double compared to the value recorded four years ago. The exports could reach EUR 4 billion in 2019, according to ANIS.

The sales on the internal market, which account for a third of the sector’s total revenues, rose by 4% last year compared to 2014, reaching EUR 991 million. They could grow by another 4.6% this year.
