Vietnamese short movie wins Romania’s NexT Film Festival
NexT International Film Festival, the biggest competition in Romania dedicated to short films, has announced the winners of the 2016 edition.
The NexT Trophy went to Vietnamese short film The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music, directed by The Propeller Group. The film won a prize of EUR 2,000 offered by the Romanian Cultural Institute and EUR 2,000 worth of digital and lab services (in post production) offered by Cinelab Romania.
The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music is a visual and musical journey through the fantastical funeral traditions and rituals of South Vietnam.
Canadian short film She Stoops To Conquer brought Zack Russell the “Cristian Nemescu” Best Directing award. The money prize amounted to EUR 1,000 and was offered by the Romanian Cultural Institute.
The “Andrei Toncu” Best Soundtrack Award, consisting of EUR 1,000, went to Katarzyna Gondek’s Figure, while the Best Romanian Short Film Award (EUR 1,000) was given to Cristian Pop’s The Toaster.
The Luno Award (EUR 2,000) went to Vacanta la Tara directed by Romania Andrei Tanase, the Foreign Film Audience Award was offered to Jeunesse des loups-garous directed by Yann Delattre, and the Romanian Film Audience Award went to Dispozitiv 0068 directed by Radu Barbulescu. The Audience Awards had a value of EUR 500 each and were offered by Pizza Hut.
The tenth edition of NexT International Film Festival took place in Bucharest between April 7 and April 11.
