Vodafone Romania will have a “massive” budget for investments in its local network this year, said Vodafone Romania CEO Ravinder Takkar.

The amount will be comparable to the one the company allotted in the period when it developed its infrastructure from scratch.

“It’s an amount we haven’t invested in the network since the Connex period,” said Takkar, without offering an exact figure, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

Since he took over his mandate, the number of sites where the company has antennas and other technical equipment has increased by 50%, said Ravinder Takkar.

Local company MobiFon Romania entered the market under the Connex brand in 1997. Vodafone bought the company in 2005 and one year later, it launched the Vodafone brand in Romania.
