Werner Hans Lauk takes over as new German ambassador to Bucharest, to attend investors' meeting this week

Werner Hans Lauk is the new German ambassador to Bucharest, replacing Andreas von Mettenheim.

Lauk, 63, previously served as general consul to Hong Kong from 2010, after being the German ambassador to Kabul from 2008 to 2010.

Prior to that, he was chief of the economic section at the German Embassy in Beijing.

In between his ambassador missions, which include postings to Riyadh, Prague and Caracas, Lauk also served as director in the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Germany.

The new German ambassador to Bucharest, who began his term in July, will meet the German community in Romania during an event organized by the German Chamber of Commerce on September 3 at Athenee Palace Hilton hotel in Bucharest.
