The Romanian media has picked up on a story involving a bribe attempt at the Ministry of Interior. Interior Ministry state secretary Dan Fatuloiu has recently told off a bribe attempt he had received on behalf of Romanian businessman Catalin Chelu.

The largest work of the painter Nicolae Tonitza (1886-1940) entitled "Golgotha" was sold, in Bucharest, for EUR 125,000 euros, at an Artmark auction "12 +1 Impressionist masterpieces from private collections", at the Ghika Palace on Thursday evening. "Golgotha" has one square meter dimension and is the largest work of Nicolae Tonitza auctioned on the Romanian art market.

Drugstores in Romania will be set up and operated as commercial companies starting 2011, with a pharmacist as sole associate or part of associations of pharmacists who own at least 51 percent of shares, according to the new law on the organization and functioning of drugstores.

The Bucharest Court of Appeals sentenced business people Corneliu Iacobov and Toader Gaurean to seven and six years in prison, respectively, for defrauding the RAFO Onesti oil refinery. Romanian company Bioromoil Automatic Stations will open the first automatic gas station in Craiova this month and plans to reach a network of 40 such stations close to large retail centers by the end of next year.

A metro train got off the tracks between Unirii and Timpuri Noi metro stations on Wednesday evening, without causing any victims. The traffic was stopped on that route and works are currently underway to evacuate the passengers and move the metro train back to the depot.
