Ikea starts recruiting for second store in Bucharest
Swedish furniture and home décor retailer Ikea started the recruiting campaign for its second store in the Romanian capital, which is currently being built in the Theodor Pallady area in Eastern Bucharest.
The current job openings include waste management & cleaning coordinator and maintenance technician, local Economica.net reported.
The Swedish retailer bought the plot of the former Anticorosiv factory in the summer of 2015 from US investment fund Broadhurst Investment. This is where the company is now building its second store in Bucharest, which will be the largest in South-Eastern Europe, with an area of 36,000 sqm.
The store should be completed by the end of this summer, the company announced. The investment amounts to EUR 86 million, including the land price.
The other Ikea store in Bucharest is located in the north part of the city, in Baneasa area.
Ikea recorded sales of EUR 128 million in Romania in the fiscal year ended August 31, 2017, up 14% year-on-year. Over 3.3 million people visited the Ikea store in Northern Bucharest between September 2016 and August 2017.
