Spanish group revamps Bucharest historic building with EUR 4.5 mln

01 November 2017

Spanish real estate group Mantor, which has four divisions in the local market, has begun the refurbishment of the historic building Mita Biciclista, located in downtown Bucharest, in the Amzei Market area.

The investment amounts to EUR 4.5 million and is due for completion next spring.

The building has an Art Nouveau facade and was constructed in the beginning of the 20th century. It has remained a symbol of Bucharest due to the notoriety of Maria Mihailescu, the woman who lived in the building. Nicknamed Mita Biciclista, she was a famous courtesan and allegedly the first woman in Bucharest to go by bicycle.

Mantor has recently delivered a private student dormitory for students in Bucharest. The group founders have a portfolio of 16 premium and luxury construction projects, totaling more than 500,000 sqm in Spain and Romania. Mantor is currently working on three houses in Bucharest, including the Mita Biciclista house, and on a factory in Urlati, near Ploiesti.
