The table tennis championship, within Romanian Corporate Sports, came to an end, the most impressive confrontations taking place in the Final stage, scheduled between 4-5 May, at the IDM complex, in Bucharest. The final, played between the first two seeds, was won by Interbrands M&D, against the Romstal team that, throughout all the stages of the competition, benefited from the support and the involvement in the game of its General Manager, Ovidiu Henter.

Deemed as favorite, after the Group Stage, which it finished in first place, with seven out of seven possible victories, Interbrands M&D confirmed its good shape and gave a fine performance in the Final stage. Surpassing, one by one, Regina Maria, with 3-0, afterwards Kandia, with 2-1, came face to face, in the final, with the strongest opponent possible: Romstal. While in the Group stage, Interbrands M&D prevailed with 3-0, everything was much more difficult in the final. After the singles matches, they were tied at 1-1, and the decisive doubles meeting was won by the favorites, with 4-1. The final score was 2-1, and Interbrands M&D inscribed its name on the first Romanian Corporate Sports – Table Tennis trophy. “The final was very disputed, the result was decided by the doubles match, and this made us a little bit nervous – said, in the end, Gelu Vasile, one of the members of the champion team. Even though we expected it to be a tough match, out opponents took us by surprise and posed some serious problems. Winning the championship makes me very happy and I would like to thank all the guys in our team for this trophy. They made a remarkable effort and they deserve all the credit. The competition was more difficult than we anticipated, and the organization was above expectation. We will probably meet again at the future edition.”
