(P) New school building for the German School of Bucharest (DSBU)
DSBU, the German School of Bucharest, is relocating! As of September 9, 2013, the first day of school in the new school year, you will find the DSBU in Str. Aron Cotrus No. 51 in Bucharest!
The current DSBU School building does no longer provide sufficient space for the number of children and students attending the DSBU. The increased number of interested families who wish to enrol their children at DSBU crèche, kindergarten or school determined also the decision to relocate the entire school. In light of the next school year 2013/14, DSBU will relocate to a larger location during the summer. The new building complex consists of four houses with bright rooms for crèche, kindergarten, school as well as three separate yet interconnected schoolyards and a sports field. Furthermore there will be science labs for physics and chemistry as well as a computer lab allowing school students to engage in lively and modern lessons.
The new DSBU complex offers more space for children and students. It will be a place for more creativity, learning and growing. Furthermore the pedagogical concept used by the DSBU can be practiced even better: The aim is that children are valued as integral persons with all their strengths and weaknesses as well as their interests. They are being approached with all their senses and feelings – because this is the way children learn best. A spacious surrounding is essential to encourage creative development. Space allows better exercise for a healthy body and mind. More space is indispensable in allowing children to find their necessary quiet seclusion.
The curricula, timetables and learning materials that DSBU uses are part of the educational plan as implemented in the German State of Baden-Württemberg. The regulations are strictly put into practice and thus students of the DSBU will be able to change schools in case their family is relocating to Germany or to another school abroad. The method of teaching used by DSBU teachers according to the curriculum is “learning holistically”, i.e. learning with your “brain, heart and hand”. So lessons by German native speakers are practical, reality and activity-oriented. Small and sometimes combined classes help maintain this pedagogical approach and imply a high quality of teaching for the students. Teachers can commit themselves to the individual needs of children, support them in a special way and watch their development closely.
To celebrate the relocation and the past schoolyear 2012/13 DSBU is inviting to its exciting, colourful and cheerful summer festival on June 22, 2013! All children, families, friends and interested visitors are warmly invited to join DSBU on a roundtrip over the continents! Check in time is 10 a.m. on Ancuta Baneasa Street No. 8. Entrance to the event is free!
