Rompetrol Rafinare completes USD 30 mln overhaul of Petromidia, Vega refineries

05 April 2022

Rompetrol Rafinare, a member company of the KMG International Group, successfully completed the turnaround of the Petromidia Navodări and Vega Ploiești refineries and initiated the procedures for restarting the production units.

These will gradually enter the technological flows and will reach capacity in about a week.

With a value of around USD 30 mln, the technological shutdown is the most important project in the company's investment plans for 2022.

Among other works, the shutdown involved the rehabilitation of the Petroleum Diesel Hydrotreater (HPM) unit, affected by last year's technical incident. The main columns of the installation were produced in Romania.

All the equipment used is new and complies with all the production specifications of the unit.

With the help of the HPM installation, Petromidia can increase the volume of diesel fuel production by about 10%.

In this context, Rompetrol Rafinare intends to process a total of 5.66 million tons of raw materials at the Petromidia refinery in 2022.

From the estimates of the company's specialists, with this predicted volume, 1.2 million tonnes of gasoline, respectively 2.7 million tonnes of diesel can be obtained.
